Altar Servers
This ministry provides members of the parish with a true opportunity to function as lay ministers by reverently assisting the celebrant and/or deacon during Sunday Mass and at special liturgies throughout the year.
Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of God clearly and understandably so that all who hear may respond.
Musicians & Choirs
The Ministry of Music provides music during weekend Masses, holy days, weddings, funerals and Reconciliation services. Parishioners are invited to share their musical talents with the rest of the congregation through this ministry. Currently we have musicians for the organ, piano, guitar, drums and flute. The 9:00 and 11:00 Masses each have a choir and, for certain seasonal liturgies, we have a children’s choir.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
These lay people are sometimes referred to as Eucharistic Ministers. They assist the priest in distributing the Eucharist at Mass. Some Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve by bringing Communion to parishioners who reside in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or in their own homes and unable to get to church.
Ushers
They offer assistance to those in need, distribute parish bulletins, take up the collection, guide the Communion processions and distribute other materials as needed.
Greeters
Being a welcoming community is very important to us. Greeters are the first face of the parish. These ministers exhibit a very welcoming atmosphere to all those who enter the church building to attend one of the weekend Masses.
Liturgical Assistants
These ministers arrive quite a bit before the beginning of a liturgy to put all the liturgical materials in place, everything from microphones to chalices, from Gospel books to charcoal. They assist directly during the liturgy by such actions as carrying the processional cross, and dressing the altar with all the appropriate linens. After the liturgy they return the liturgical materials to their storage locations.
Ministers of Service
These ministers have been trained for and are committed to serve both at liturgies and in other ministerial roles outside of the liturgy. They assist the celebrant’s activities at the altar, read the petitions in the Universal Prayer, distribute Communion and do the tasks of a liturgical assistant in their absence.
Sacristans (Plant and Altar Care)
Sacristans assist, facilitate, and provide support for the other liturgical ministries. These activities include watering and maintaining flowers and other plants, cleaning liturgical vestments and linens, and maintaining/cleaning the candles, altar, written liturgical aids and pews.
Environment Team
This team enhances the worshiping experience of the congregation by creating the church visual environment for the liturgical seasons and feasts of the year. This includes decorating, both inside and outside, with banners and various cloth materials, arranging items like the nativity scene, and providing other visual items like candle and floral arrangements, unique lighting arrays, images of icons, and other 2-D and 3-D displays.
